Ntouch: a contactless HMI
Designed with UX in mind
Thanks to a partnership with Edge Impulse, a leading company in developing AI for embedded systems, our gesture-detection algorithms can run offline, in a small 32-bit microcontroller and with a small latency. Thanks to this technology (TinyML), user experience is really good because their equipment reacts immediately, just like the regular old button.
No need for physical interaction
Since the project was started during COVID-19 pandemic, the main goal was to prevent spreading the virus by avoiding physical interaction with other operators as much as possible. To achieve it, our devices use Time-of-Flight technology as an input for the gesture detection algorithm. This technology made also possible to use Ntouch in potentially dangerous processes such as cutting, welding or folding systems.
From prototype to country-wide deployment
The project generated some interest in Delikia, the biggest vending machine company in Spain. Thanks to them, Ntouch technology was deployed throughout many airports, hospitals and shopping malls.
